The chocolate tycoon won the election despite violence and attempts by Russian-backed separatist groups to prevent voters from making it to the polls. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Kyiv for the inauguration.
Biden will bring a U.S. delegation with him to Ukraine. He will also meet with Poroshenko to discuss the new direction of Ukraine, the situation in eastern Ukraine involving Russian intervention and potential assistance from the U.S. to Ukraine.
