Muslims in Kyiv hold Laylatu ul-Qadr event

Ukrainian Muslims also mark this major religious event, which coincides with one of the nights during the last ten days of Ramadan.

During this night, Muslims gather for an evening meal and hold special programs.

Around a thousand people gathered in the main Kyiv’s Mosque to make prayers and read the Quran. According to the Quran, during this night this entire holy book was sent down at one time to the holy prophet of Islam,

Also it’s during this night that God determines the course of the world for the following year. Therefore Muslims worship as much as they can on this night.

In this new-built Mosque in the capital Kyiv, for the first time, the Night of Power is held. Muslim believers attending the program here point out a very special mood of this blessed night.

During Ramadan most of these people come here every day. During the Night of Power–Laylat ul-Qadr–Muslims often read supplications and extra prayers.

Most of these Muslims stay in the mosque all night performing voluntary prayers and studying the Quran. With the pray they also start the traditional Suhoor–breakfast before the sunrise.
