Mourinho praises ‘fantastic’ Chelsea fans
Jose Mourinho praised his Chelsea players for the mental strength they showed to deal with a “negative moment” in the 2-1 Champions League win over Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
“They tried to say we want you here, and they probably wanted to say to you guys let him work”. It was unbelievable really. “Until my last day in this club, if that is in four years’ time, 10 years or 15 years, I will give everything to them”, he added.
Jose Mourinho thanked Chelsea’s supporters for their vocal backing in Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Dynamo Kyiv.
“Logically, everyone demands more from Mourinho and from the players but I am sure that after this win we will get back onto the winning track”.
He explained that the Chelsea team now look panicked when they go a goal down because their confidence is low and it will only come back once they put together a run of positive results on the bounce.
Mourinho had told his team “when the hard moment arrives, face the hard moment, don’t collapse, don’t be affected, keep the belief” – and they did.
“They know that during the game the action of the manager is not so crucial and I think the fact they know why I am not on the bench is also important for the group”.
Arjen Robben’s first-time finish and a Muller breakaway strike came either side of Olivier Giroud’s volley.
‘Real Madrid are keen on taking him off Chelsea’s hands.
“I spoke a lot with the players“. And today we had a reaction. And while that chant may have made fans of other clubs feel a bit nauseous…
“We play for the manager and for the club and we just want to fight for the club, and now we are looking to take this form into the Premier League”. Or they don’t listen to television and pundits and commentators.
“This is my moment because it was fantastic”. ‘We knew with a draw that if we win the next two matches we would qualify in second.
“The club has it in them to turn around their fortunes”. You have good moments and bad moments. They showed resilience as Willian converted a free-kick to give the club the win. That’s easy. It’s easy for kids to go to school with a Chelsea shirt when Chelsea win every match.
