Mourinho: Kyiv could win the Europa League

The Blues’ opposition today, Dynamo Kyiv, are second with five points after the same number of games, and Maccabi Tel-Aviv are in the basement with zero points at the half way point in the group stages.

Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv yesterday at the Stamford Bridge, is their second in nine matches in all competitions.

Chelsea have struggled for form, goals and consistency and their performance at Stamford Bridge against Kyiv was far from convincing. “I can only thank them by giving everything I have, to thank them for this reaction”. I knew it would be hard to score and they are good on the counter attack. It’s a vital win that puts qualification in their own hands – even though nothing is certain for Chelsea given how they’ve started this season.

“I don’t think the criticism has much effect on the players because the manager tells us what to do and everyone believes in the manager and we are doing what he tells us”.

“Today it was flawless because we conceded a goal with 15 minutes to go and the team emerged”.

“The only thing I can say is that until my last day at the club, four years, ten years, 15 years, doesn’t matter how long I stay here, I will give everything to them”. The club has to be very proud of their fans.

“Everyone, players, coaches, you have good moments and bad moments”.

“The fans…it’s quite unbelievable what they tried to say”.

Mourinho’s men make the daunting trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City on Saturday evening as the west London side look to end a two-game losing run in the Premier League.

“Today they said “We want you here” and probably to you (the media) “We want him, let him work”, Mourinho said after the 2-1 victory.

“To support the club manager, I think, is a way of showing respect, but is fundamentally a way to show passion for the club”.
