Ukraine and Russia have agreed to allow three Ukrainian cheese-makers checked by Rospotrebnadzor (Russian food safety) experts to supply cheese to the Russian market.
“We agreed to open the Russian market to the products of these enterprises,” Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Petro Poroshenko said in Moscow on Tuesday following negotiations with Rospotrebnadzor Chief Gennady Onishchenko.
“We achieved agreement on the enterprises that have been checked as of today, and submitted action plans. We, as the Ukrainian government, will ensure that the action plans are being fulfilled,” Poroshenko said.
He also promised that each batch of cheese products be supplied on the Ukrainian market would be monitored for quality.
In turn, Onishchenko told reporters that three companies that received the green light used to export 60% of the Ukrainian cheese supplied to the Russian market.
