Marko Devic Will Score At Any Cost – Former Rangers Man Oleg Salenko Backs …
Tuesday, 10th September, 2013
Former Russia and Dynamo Kyiv striker Oleg Salenko has backed wronged Ukrainian striker Marko Devic to get at least one goal when England visit Kyiv tonight.
Group H of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers will see table toppers England take on Ukraine, with Devic a likely participant given he was involved in the previous leg.
Devic was also the unlucky victim of a refereeing mistake when England beat Ukraine 1-0 in Euro 2012, when John Terry hooked away what looked a clear goal.
And Salenko, who played half a season for Rangers in 1994/95, believes Devic will be more than fired up if given the chance tonight.
“If the [England] defenders will play with man-to-man marking on Marko, Roman Zozulya will be utilised”, Salenko told Dynamo’s official website. “I think Marko understands that.
“However, he will have additional motivation because of the goal that was not given against England at Euro 2012. He will score at any cost.”
Devic is currently playing for Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukrainian top flight, and has already scored eight in as many games in the new season.
