man charged in murder-for-hire plot
A 49-year-old Anahuac, Texas, man was charged in a murder-for-hire plot.
David Houston Sartin was indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday.
Sartin was charged with attempted kidnapping and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
According to court documents, in December 2011, Sartin wanted to have someone in Kyiv, Ukraine, kidnapped and brought to the United States, where Sartin planned to have the kidnapped person killed.
Sartin met with an undercover agent in March 2012, gave the agent $25,000 and promised another $25,000, according to the indictment.
If convicted, Sartin faces up to 25 years in federal prison.
