Maccabi Tel Aviv suffers second consecutive Champions League defeat
Following 0-4 against Chelsea, Maccabi remains in last spot of group after 0-2 against Dynamo Kyiv
Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered their second consecutive Champions League defeat after losing 2-0 at home to an overpowering Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday night.
Kyiv scored a goal early in each half as it eased to a 2-0 victory over Maccabi Tel-Aviv and took the top spot of Group G.
Andriy Yarmolenko put the Ukrainian side ahead after just four minutes, collecting Derlis Gonzalez’s defense-splitting pass and steering his shot past Maccabi keeper Predrag Rajkovic.
Maccabi, looking to mark their first home game in this phase since 2004 in style, instead found themselves unable to cope with the visitors’ pace on the break.
Gonzalez also set up the second goal, surging into the left of the penalty area on the break before passing to Junior Moraes for a cool finish into the net.
Dynamo Kyiv and FC Porto both have four points after Porto beat Chelsea 2-1.
