Leicester City are to pull out of their ambitious bid for Dynamo Kyiv defender Aleksandar Dragovic after the Ukraine club changed the asking price.

Claudio Ranieri concluded the £3.75million transfer of Demarai Gray from Birmingham on Monday and had signalled a £12m plus add-ons offer for Dragovic.

However, Kyiv, who are developing a reputation for being difficult to deal with, have raised their price from £16m to £25m.

Kyiv president Igor Surkis believes if they keep Dragovic, 24, they can beat Manchester City in the Champions League and that will be worth more money to the club.

Leicester are continuing to negotiate with Sampdoria over the sale of Yohan Benalouane with teenage full-back Pedro Pereira coming the other way.

Talks are ongoing too over a proposed new contract for striker Jamie Vardy, who has undergone groin surgery.

Premier League sides have made enquiries for Vardy but Leicester are determined not to sell in this window.
