Legal officers of foreign ministries from CIS states convene in Kyiv

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Kyiv is playing host to a meeting of the advisory committee of the heads of the legal departments of the Foreign Ministries of the CIS member states on 13-14 September, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh told a press briefing

The meeting will discuss the issues of the depositary practices of the CIS Executive Committee and ways of their further development, including proposals regarding the inventory of the treaty and legal framework for the CIS. In addition, the meeting is expected to take a decision on the chairmanship in the advisory committee in 2013.

The event is attended by a Belarusian delegation headed by the deputy chief of the legal directorate of the Foreign Ministry Lyudmila Tatarinovich.

The advisory committee of the chiefs of the legal departments of the Foreign Ministries of the CIS member states was established in accordance with the decision of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers on 15 September 2004. Members of the advisory committee are the chiefs of the legal departments of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine. In 2012, the advisory committee is chaired by Ukraine.
