Kyiv turns off hot water for winter gas savings – ITAR

KYIV, August 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Hot water is being turned off in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, to save gas for the winter.

Utility company Kyivenergo’s decision is on instructions from the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining, the supplier said on Monday.

General director Alexander Fomenko said summer fuel saved would help Ukraine navigate the winter cold.

Kyiv has received 1.2 billion cubic metres of gas for heating purposes. But Dmitry Novitsky, head of utilities at Kyiv’s city administration, says that will not be enough to ensure regular gas supplies in winter and maintain comfortable inner temperatures.
