Kyiv: Russia negotiating with Ukraine rebels
Russian military officials are reported to be in negotiations with rebel groups in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk. Officials in Kyiv say the talks are aimed at enforcing a peace agreement and beginning a process of withdrawal.
The Ukraine government has said it won’t withdraw its forces from rebel held areas until there’s been one full day without fighting. More than 3,500 people have been killed in the 6 month conflict between Ukrainian forces and rebels in the east.
Russia has denied accusations by Ukraine, the US and the EU that it sent troops and equipment into Ukrainian territory to back the rebels.
