Kyiv residents and tourists enjoy free museum days in Ukrainian capital

Museums around the city open their doors to all

Residents and tourists in Ukrainian capital Kyiv have been enjoying free admittance into museums around the city as part of a week-long festival. One of the most popular museums in the Ukrainian capital is the national art museum which has been holding a number of events including different quests, discussion clubs, and arts and crafts workshops.

This museum employee said: “We’ve stopped being just walls, where art work is hung. We are becoming a social center where you can meet up with a friend or where you can even bring your date.”

Some visitors received the unique chance to learn a dance which dates back to the 16th century.

Some of the museum’s youngest visitors received the opportunity to experience the hardships of living in the Stone Age.

A visiting magician from France said that Ukraine’s festival of free museum entry are a lot better than those in his homeland. He said:

Samuelle Djanandjeli, magician: “France also has a free admittance day, where you can go in the museum, but here it’s a bit better because there is animation.”

Free admittance to various museums will continue throughout the week in Kyiv.
