Kyiv region has united efforts with the police to fight against illegal parking
Kyiv Mayor Volodymyr Klychko said on a Ukrainian TV channel.
According to Klychko, unfortunately, the problem of illegal parking cannot be completely solved, as the parliament has not yet given Kyiv authorities the legal right to fine drivers for illegal parking.
Klychko said that in the capital there are a significant number of parking lots that are now almost empty.
“At the same time, the drivers are practicing the following principle: why should I pay if I can park for free anywhere. We and the police will do the following: if drivers violate and park in prohibited places, then fines will be imposed and cars will be taken away,” the mayor said.
He also stressed that drivers should bear the same responsibility for violating parking rules, despite of the status or position.
“The rules must be the same for all,” Klychko said.
