Kyiv invites Moscow to begin de-escalation talks – PM
Ukraine has called on Russia to hold real negotiations on the de-escalation in eastern Ukraine in the Geneva format, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
Yatseniuk called on Russia to start real negotiations. He is certain that the best format for such talks is the Geneva format that involves the United States, the European Union, Ukraine and Russia.
“Everything depends on the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his administration. If Putin has political will to stop war against Ukraine, to observe the international law, not to violate the UN Charter, Ukraine is ready for such talks. But in reality the things are going on in completely another way. It seems that the main aim of president Putin is invasion of Ukraine,” the premier stressed.
Yatseniuk also called on the Russian leadership to adhere to the Minsk agreements.
