Kyiv hopes Europe will continue to help Ukraine conduct reforms – Yatseniuk
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said he hopes that European countries will continue to provide support to Ukraine in making the necessary reforms in the country.
“We expect an IMF mission and other foreign creditors that don’t give money so easily. We received the first two tranches only for the simple reason that all the reforms that were necessary for the country and that met international standards have been carried out,” he said after a meeting with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reynders on Monday.
He said that the Ukrainian government intended to continue to carry out reforms “with the support of European partners.”
Reynders, in turn, said that Europe was interested in carrying out important reforms in Ukraine.
“We will facilitate this process through the Council of Europe [Belgium currently holds the presidency of the Council of Europe],” he said.
He said that European countries had a great level of confidence in the new Ukrainian government and the Verkhovna Rada, therefore Kyiv can count on assistance during the reformation process.
