Ukraine hopes that the Association Agreement with the EU will be ratified by May 2015, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis has said.

He said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday that last week the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement was ratified by the parliament of Sweden. In addition, the document was ratified by the parliament of Hungary and the Polish Sejm.

In general, the agreement has already been ratified by nine EU member states, among them Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Malta, Slovakia and Estonia.

“We are grateful to the parliaments of the EU member states that ratified the agreement, thus confirming support for the Ukrainian people in the realization of their European choice. I hope that the remaining countries will ratify the document before the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Riga next May,” Perebyinis said.
