Kyiv Envoy to Ukraine Talks Must Have Official Mandate, Authority

Ukraine Contact Group meets in MinskMOSCOW, February 2 (Sputnik) Kyiv’s envoy to the Contact Group talks on Ukraine reconciliation must have an official mandate and have the authority to sign documents on behalf of the Ukrainian government, a representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic at the talks said Monday.

“It is not important for us who would represent Kyiv as long as this person has the necessary authority to take part in talks at this level, with officially confirmed mandate,” Denis Pushilin told reporters in Moscow.

Pushilin stressed it was irrelevant whether this person would be former president Leonid Kuchma or any other individual.
