Kyiv dam able to withstand this year’s flood – NRCU

As the company CEO Igor Syrota said, over the whole period of operation of the Kyiv hydroelectric power station the largest flood occured in 1970, and at that time the dam passed 10 000 cubic meters of water per second. He also noted that the thickness of ice in the Dnieper River this year, is about 40 centimeters, two years ago the figure was twice as large. This year there will be no need for rapid discharge of water at the Kyiv hydroelectric power station, and therefore there is no threat of mass death of fish, as it happened earlier, the official concluded.
