Klitschko To Involve German Investors In Introduction Of Water Purification …
Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko intends to introduce the latest water purification technologies in Kyiv with the help of German investors.
The press service of Klitschko announced this in a statement.
According to the statement, Klitschko met with representatives of a German company in Kyiv to discuss possible investment and German assistance in introducing the latest water purification technologies in Kyiv.
“I consume water just like millions of Kyiv residents. Unfortunately, every Kyiv resident knows about the ‘quality’ of water in the capital, and it is always unsafe to drink tap water in Kyiv. Purification of water with chlorine is obsolete technology, it is last century, and it is no longer used around the world. There is a lot of technological expertise on water treatment in the West, and it is necessary to apply it in Kyiv if we want to see it as a modern European city. Therefore, one of the tasks for the Kyiv authorities is to ensure that tap water can be drunk in the Ukrainian capital without health damage,” the press service quoted the mayor as saying.
According to the statement, Klitschko visited the Kyivvodokanal water company, where he familiarized himself with the process of water purification in the capital, which, according to him, is obsolete.
At the same time, according to Klitschko, it is realistic to achieve safe and high-quality water in Kyiv.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Klitschko promised to introduce modern technologies for purification of drinking water in Kyiv if elected mayor of the city.
In June 2013, Kyivvodokanal announced plans to stop using chlorine for treating water at the Dniprovska and Desnianska waterworks and introduce water treatment with sodium hypochlorite.
