KHARKIV – A conciliatory commission of the executive committee of Kharkiv City Council will appeal to the courts asking for a ban on rallies scheduled for April 19.
The commission took this decision at its meeting on Wednesday, following the discussion of a notification about the holding of mass rallies in Kharkiv submitted by Yuriy Odarchenko from the Kyiv city organization of the Batkivschyna Party, and MP Andriy Kozhemiakin.
“In particular, MP Yuriy Odarchenko noted that 10,000 people intend to hold a rally first in front of the Appeals Court of Kharkiv region (Rudneva Square) and than to march to the Kachanivska penal colony. Andriy Kozhemiakin applied to hold a meeting of MPs with voters on Rudneva Square and the adjacent territory from 0900 until 1800,” the press service said in a statement.
Chairman of the commission, Deputy Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted that these actions would disrupt the operation of main roads in the city, which its citizens use to get to and from work.
As reported, a court earlier canceled the rallies by the branches of the Batkivschyna Party, the Regions Party, the Green Planet Party and the NGO Go Ahead Together! outside the Appeals Court on April 19.
