Jack Wilshere tipped to rise above criticism and be English Zinedine Zidane
Jack Wilshere has the talent and mental strength to do for England what
Zinédine Zidane did for France, according to Arsène Wenger.
The Arsenal manager moved to defend the 21-year-old against a raft of
criticism after a subdued performance for Roy Hodgson’s side in the goalless
draw with Ukraine on Tuesday.
Wilshere, playing in an advanced midfield role, struggled to exert any
influence in the World Cup qualifying tie in Kyiv, thanks in no small part
to the attentions of Taras Stepanenko, his designated man-marker.
Wenger is adamant, though, that Wilshere should not be condemned because of
one poor display,
