There were ecstatic football fans and scenes of jubilation in Rome as Italy made it to the finals of Euro 2012.

Mario Balotelli scored both goals in the first half of the match in Warsaw which saw the Italian side beat Germany 2-1.

Now it is onto Kyiv to face the world champions Spain.

“We’re lookng for the train to Kyiv. Do you know where the train to Kyiv is?” said one Italy fan.

“Wonderful. Unforgettable. Having won like this is wonderful. We deserved even more goals, but it was great anyway,” added another.

A good penalty taken by Mesut Ozil in the 92nd minute was too little too late for the Germans to win, but at least it prevented Italy from having a clean sheet said a German supporter: “The Italians played well, we must admit that. It was good to have the penalty in the last two minutes because it meant we didn’t lose 2-0. I hoped we’d reach the finals, but oh well, that’s the way it is.”

“It’s a pity. We didn’t play well and even the team was badly selected. It’s always the ones who get the most goals who win unfortunately for us. But we’re going to try again in Brazil in two years, and in four years in France – and someday we’ll get a title again,” said another German in Warsaw.

If Italy are successful against Spain in Kyiv on Sunday, it will be their first time winning the tournament since 1968.
