Alan Irvine has stated his intention to add more attacking depth to his West Bromwich Albion side ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Irvine has already broken the West Bromwich Albion’s transfer record, signing Brown Ideye from Dynamo Kyiv for £10million, but the 56-year-old is not finished yet, and is keen to bolster his striking ranks further in the coming weeks. 

The Baggies boss has been busy so far this summer recruiting no fewer than six players.

Although Irvine understands the restraints of his budget at West Brom, and has Ideye, Victor Anichebe and Saido Berahino already on his books, he still feels there is room for another striker at the Hawthorns. 

Irvine told reporters; “We have a budget to work to and rightly so, and it’s a case of trying to stretch that as well as we possibly can. I would love us to be able to get in another striker because you want to have options of how you can play up front.

Here are three possible candidates that we could see join West Brom;  

Victor Moses 

Following a largely inconspicuous loan spell at Liverpool last season, the Nigerian has returned to parent club Chelsea where he is almost certain to be surplus to requirements.

West Brom have been mentioned among a list of possible suitors for the forward, although no official advances have yet been reported.

At the age of 23 Moses is still a young player that could be a success in the Premier League, but a more prominent role in the first team is needed if he is to have any chance of prospering.

Wage demands could be in issue, meaning a loan deal is more likely than anything else. 

Troy Deeney

The Baggies have been linked with a move for the Watford striker this summer, however the signing of Ideye could now mean a deal for the 26-year-old is no longer an option for Irvine.

Deeney netted 24 times last season in the Championship and would be a relatively risk free acquisition, but reports claiming Leicester City have seen an offer of £7.5million turned down would suggest West Brom would struggle to stump up the kind of funds required to reach personal talks with the player at this moment in time.  

Joel Campbell 

The 22-year-old World Cup sensation seems to have finally been accepted into Arsene Wenger’s first team plans at Arsenal, after jetting out with the squad to Austria for pre-season preparations.

However, if the Gunners manager brings another striker to the Emirates before the end of the current window, Campbell could be allowed to leave the club on loan to gain some much needed Premier League experience elsewhere.

A loan deal for the Costa Rican would benefit both Arsenal and West Brom next season, so this eventuality could definitely have legs although the Baggies will no doubt face competition for the youngster’s signature.
