Intl Experts Abandon Plane Crash Area in Ukraine

09 de agosto de 2014, 12:30Kyiv, Aug 9 (Prensa Latina) A group of international experts searching for more victims and fragments of the Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 plane left Ukraine, so the mission was suspended, OSCE observers said on Saturday.

The Ukrainian Government’s commission announced in a statement on Friday that the mission, comprised of more than 100 experts from Australia, the Netherlands and Malaysia, had concluded the first stage of the inspection in the area where the Malaysian airliner was shot down on July 17 with 298 passengers on board in the region of Donetsk.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), whose members guaranteed the protection of the international experts on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian self-defense militia, notified that the mission had been suspended and the team had left Ukraine.

The Netherlands, which leads the groupâ€Ã–s coordination, said on Friday that the work could be resumed, provided that there were guarantees for security and the parties in conflict comply with the ceasefire.

The governmental commission in Kyiv stated that the ceasefire in the disaster area would be only effective after the resumption of the second stage of works on that territory.

Previously, the OSCE spokesman in Ukraine, Michael Bociurkiw, had said the international mission could last some weeks more due to the combats in the region.
