Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of France Francois Hollande on the French side’s initiative. Russian President’s official source informs about this. 

The heads of state discussed their upcoming bilateral meeting in Paris on June 5, 2015. Vladimir Putin confirmed his readiness to participate in celebratory events in Normandy on June 6, honouring the 70th anniversary of the Allied landing.

The two Presidents continued an exchange of views on developments in Ukraine. The President of Russia noted the need for an immediate end to the violence and bloodshed by Kyiv authorities and the launch of a direct dialogue between Kyiv and representatives from southeastern Ukraine.
