Has Europe failed on Ukraine?

Ukraine’s FM Pavlo Klimkin on Nov.5 said the EU ‘lacks the strategic vision of the Eastern policy’

The decisions of parliamentarians in Kyiv have caused Ukraine’s path towards European integration to be far from smooth. MP’s have made some headway in drawing up and passing laws related to the country’s broad reforms program – although dozens of key demands from Brussels have still to be met.

But amid the squabbling at national government level, other questions arise; namely, could Brussels have given more political and economic support to Ukraine to fulfill the Association Agreement signed in March 2014?

What are the failings of both sides? And do Europeans fully support Ukraine?

We spoke with Leonid Litra, a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of World Policy to get his opinion on this matter among others.
