GlobalMoney Denies Involvement In Destabilization Of WebMoney’s Operations …

The GlobalMoney domestic non-bank payment system (Kyiv), which facilitates payments for various services through the Internet through the use of electronic money, has denied any involvement in the destabilization of the operations of the WebMoney instant online payments system, the press service of GlobalMoney announced in a statement.

“The general director of the GlobalMoney payment system, Oleksandr Tiutiun, denies the reports in some media outlets claiming involvement of the company in the scandal surrounding the WebMoney company in Ukraine,” the statement said.

Tiutiun stressed that the media speculation about GlobalMoney’s interest in the prosecution of WebMoney by the authorities are fantasies.

According to him, the foreign owners of WebMoney have been holding negotiations on purchase of GlobalMoney for the past three years, which makes it illogical for GlobalMoney to spoil relations with one of its potential investors.

Tiutiun added that the operating rules of GlobalMoney were agreed with the National Bank of Ukraine in 2009, when the bank was still headed by Volodymyr Stelmakh.

“If the desire exists to register the rules with the NBU, it can be done if one works on the objections rather than cite difficulties,” said Tiutiun.

Earlier, media reports claimed that GlobalMoney was involved in the destabilization of WebMoney’s operations and that the rules for the GlobalMoney system were quickly agreed with the National Bank of Ukraine and that the State Savings Bank (Oschadbank) began issuing electronic money for the system while the rules WebMoney were not approved for years and not even considered by the National Bank of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, tax officials raided the office of WebMoney on M. Raskova Street in Kyiv on June 11.

At the same time, the Ministry of Revenue and Duties froze UAH 60 million in the accounts of the company.

After that, WebMoney announced that it was unable to make payments to its partner-companies because of the freezing of the accounts.

At the same time, the National Bank of Ukraine and the ministry insisted that WebMoney had not right to perform operations in Ukraine because it did not have the relevant license the National Bank of Ukraine.
