Furious Manchester City make written complaint to FA over scheduling of Chelsea cup tie

Furious Manchester City have made a formal complaint to the FA over the scheduling of their FA Cup tie with Chelsea.

City are angry the tie is being played at 4pm on February 21, just three days before they take on Dynamo Kyiv away in the Champions League.

Officials at City have written to FA to formally register their anger at the game going ahead on the Sunday, with the Blues flying to Kyiv the following Monday.

City feel the FA have not listened sufficiently to their case and have accused the FA of not communicating properly with them over the issue.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed he will play a weakened team at Chelsea, having prioritised the Champions League over the FA Cup.

City’s draw against Dynamo Kyiv gives them a great chance of making it to the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

And with several players sidelined through injury, including £54million signing Kevin De Bruyne, Pellegrini will take no chances and field a side made up of fringe and youth players at Stamford Bridge.
