French Lawyers Ready to Help Donbass Citizens Defend Rights

Militia of the DPR in the village of ShirokinoDONETSK (Sputnik) — On Monday, the French delegation of human rights activists arrived in Donetsk for a four-day visit to talk to civilians and heads of local administrations about Kyiv’s war crimes against the region’s citizens. On Tuesday, the French delegation visited the airport in Donetsk which was left virtually in ruins, after seeing some of the most violent clashes in the Ukrainian conflict.

“I believe that Donbass needs colleagues that will provide legal assistance. I am a lawyer and thereby I came here. I am also planning to work with other lawyers from Germany, Italy, France and so on, to create a case for the European Court of Human Rights, so that human rights could win elsewhere,” Bousquet said, as quoted by the Donetsk news agency.

The agency added that DPR and LPR gave the French delegation images and video footage, as well as evidence from experts, allegedly proving Kyiv’s war crimes against civil population to submit them to ECtHR.

In April 2014, Kyiv launched a military operation against pro-independence supporters in Donbass. According to the United Nations, the conflict has claimed over 9,000 lives.
