Foreign Ministry: No Information About Melnyk’s Arrest In USA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine claims absence of information about arrest of Petro Melnyk, a former chief of the National State Tax Service University (Irpin, Kyiv Region) a former member of the Ukrainian parliament, Yevhen Perebyinis, director of the Foreign Ministry’s communications policy department, has announced at a news briefing.
“Our consulate institutions in the USA say no information about Melnyk’s arrest has been sent in,” said Perebyinis.
He underlines, the Foreign Ministry has no requisite instruments to confirm information about this or that citizen’s stay in certain country.
In his words, law-enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the USA are now working together closely on this matter.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kommersant Ukraine, referring to its own sources, has reported the United States police to have held Melnyk.
The Kyiv Region Prosecutors’ Office has completed the pre-trial investigation and conveyed to court the bill of indictment on neglect of duty against two policemen who had been unduly checking performance of the electronic tracing device attached to Melnyk upon court order.
