The Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) has a list of 30 candidates for the post of national team coach, which does not include Italian Marcello Lippi, but does include Swede Sven-Göran Eriksson, FFU First Vice-President Anatoliy Popov has said.
“There are about 30 candidates on the extended list of the Committee of National Teams,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday after a meeting of the FFU’s executive committee.
He said that the list includes Ukrainian and foreign managers. The list contains does not contain the well-known Italian coach Lippi, but it includes famous Swedish coach Eriksson. Popov said that discussion of the issue of Ukraine manager at a meeting of the FFU’s executive committee was rather active in view of the current situation concerning this issue in society and in the media.
The executive committee ordered FFU President Anatoliy Konkov and Head of the FFU Coaching Board Mykhailo Fomenko to work on the available materials on the candidates and propose several candidates to hold talks with. According to the FFU president, this will take five to seven days.
