England’s Football Association (FA) was fined £4,035 ($6,333) by European soccer’s governing body for the “inappropriate conduct” of England’s fans during last Friday’s Euro 2012 group win over Sweden in Kyiv.
The fine was for the attempted pitch invasion by England supporters during the Group D match, UEFA confirmed in a statement.

England soccer chiefs decided not to contest the fine, believing the relative small amount reflects UEFA’s belief the incident was not serious.
“The FA accepts UEFA’s sanction in relation to the incident versus Sweden and we consider the matter closed,” read an FA statement.
After England’s second and third goals by Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck in the 3-2 win between 20 and 30 fans surged forward toward the barriers but no one got further than the outside of the Olympic Stadium’s running track.

Meanwhile, UEFA has launched a new racism investigation against Croatia after its fans displayed offensive banners during a European Championship match.
UEFA says it has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Croatian football federation “for the setting-off and throwing of fireworks, and the improper conduct of supporters (display of racist banners and symbols)” during the Group C match against Spain on Monday.
