Everton can make history insists Toffee boss Roberto Martinez

As Martinez’s team take on Dynamo Kyiv, with a 2-1 first leg lead, they bid to become only the third Everton team to reach the quarter-finals of a European competition.

They made the last eight of the 1971 European Cup and won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1985.

Martinez said: “We need to not feel the responsibility of needing to get through, it is wanting to achieve something historic and special for us.

“Getting into the final eight of this competition would be an incredible achievement historically.”
