Everton boss hints at move for £20m attacking star

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that there’s a chance his side may sign Dynamo Kyiv attacker Andriy Yarmolenko this month.

The Ukraine international has been persistently linked with a switch to Goodison Park for much of the past six months after the club chased his signature over the summer.

However, Yarmolenko has since penned a new contract with the Kyiv giants, yet this has done little to quell the rumours, with Everton thought to remain as keen as ever.

With football in Eastern Europe nowhere near as strong financially as the English top tier, the 26-year-old may end up available this month for the right price, mooted to be around £20m, and Martinez refused to rule out a deal:

“I never close the door to anything, so yeah we could see a player of that calibre coming here.” he is quoted by The Mirror.

“It’s the window and there are a couple of situations that could happen. We want the squad to be stronger but at the same time the squad is too big, it was built for European football, and there are a couple who need to go to get regular football.”

Yarmolenko is able to play both up front or in any attacking midfield position and has netted eight goals so far in league action this term.
