Euro 2012: Supporters can still buy tickets from Uefa’s website for …
The Football Association has sold around 2,500 for Sunday’s game with around
the same number again expected to travel with tickets from other sources.
Even fewer Italian
fans are expected to travel to the game, but Kyiv’s Olympic Stadium, which
has a capacity of 60,000 will be a sell-out.
Most of the local support is likely to switch its allegiance to England,
thanks to the popularity of Premier League clubs. Kevin Miles of the
Football Supporters Federation said: “About 5,000 England supporters
are expected to be at the game. The main reason numbers are down on previous
tournaments is simply the cost.
“Money is tight and recession is biting, but we expected there will be a
lot of support in the stadium from the locals. Even though we beat them,
there is a lot of warmth towards the English game.”
