EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee to hold meeting in June, says …
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria (the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction) has said that a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee will be held in early June.
“We have agreed to hold the meeting in early June. It’s a provisional date for the moment,” he told journalists in Kyiv on Friday.
He said that he had discussed this matter by phone with Chairman of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Pawel Kowal.
As reported, a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Committee was scheduled for April 5. However, it was postponed due to the fact that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had not yet approved the composition of its delegation.
Speaking about the formation of the Ukrainian delegation to the committee, Nemyria said that he had offered a compromise, however he didn’t expand on the topic.
“For the first time in the existence of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, Ukraine hasn’t formed its delegation in time,” he said.
According to him, the Party of Regions insisted that it should have a majority in the delegation.
Nemyria said that the Ukrainian part of the committee should also include independent MPs.
