EU not helping Ukraine to solve gas issues despite Kyiv’s membership in Energy …

The launch of the South Stream and Nord Stream gas pipelines by Russia will greatly reduce the volume of shipments through the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS), Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
“The European Union gave its consent to the construction of the Nord Stream and the South Stream, which will result in Ukraine’s loosing its major trump card. Ukraine’s massive gas transportation system will remain largely unused,” he said during a meeting with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The premier expressed his regret that the EU stood back and did not support Kyiv in solving gas issues, despite the fact of Ukraine’s being a member of the Energy Community.
