EU awaits details of Kyiv’s decision to suspend preparations to sign EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

The European Union is currently refraining from assessing the decision of the Ukrainian government to suspend preparations to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, said Linas Linkevicius, Foreign Minister of Lithuania which is currently chairing the EU.
It is difficult to comment on this information right away, Linkevicius said in Brussels on Thursday afternoon during a news conference dedicated to the Eastern Partnership. This is in the hands of the Ukrainian people, what they want to do and eventually the Ukrainian authorities, in particular President Viktor Yanukovych, will decide what the decision will be and no one will decide for them,” Linkevicius said. It is hard to assess the decision made because its details are unknown yet, Linkevicius said. The EU does not have details from Ukraine, so one should be careful and should not hurry with conclusions, Linkevicius said.
