The ENEMO observation mission for parliamentary elections in Ukraine has said that more violations are being recorded during the current parliamentary election campaign in Ukraine than during the previous elections in 2007.

“The first observations show that more violations were recorded at single-member constituencies. There were fewer violations in the previous elections under the proportional system,” the head of the mission, Peter Novotny, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He also said that the composition of district election commission was more balanced during the previous parliamentary elections. The draw of the composition of 225 district election commissions has not ensured their balanced composition and the equal representation of all political parties.

ENEMO mission representatives also said that such parties as UDAR and Svoboda, which have a lot of candidates, would not be represented in any district election commission.

They believe that such a situation would be unlikely if there were a separate draw for each commission, which was not done.

ENEMO mission observers also said that the first meetings of district election commissions were not held properly in most cases, and were held in the absence of a large number of their members, who sometimes do not even know that they have to work in them or who live in other regions and cannot physically attend these meetings.

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
