Emotional Mourinho Thanks Fans For Support
Jose Mourinho thanked Chelsea’s supporters for their vocal backing in Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Dynamo Kyiv.
During Wednesday’s Champions League win against Dynamo Kyiv the fans wouldn’t stop chanting the manager’s name, and if Mourinho was ever in any doubt about what the fans feel for him, he isn’t any more.
Amid reports of a dressing room revolt against under-fire manager Jose Mourinho, Chelsea welcome Ukranian champions Kyiv in a must-win clash in Group G. Mourinho has come under mounting pressure in recent weeks after Chelsea’s dismal run left last season’s English champions languishing in the lower reaches of the top-flight table.
Mourinho told Chelsea TV: “If somebody deserves the winning goal I think Willian is flawless”.
“Everyone, players, coaches, you have good moments and bad moments. In a good moment, you see the streets full of people celebrating with the bus – but that is easy”. Or they don’t listen to television and pundits and commentators. We want him. Let him work.’ It was fantastic. “Until my last day in this club, if that is in four years, 10 years, 15 years, I will give everything to them”. The fans showed their passion for the club. In the 34th minute, Willian’s low, hard cross was headed by the bleach-blond-haired Aleksandar Dragovic and past Dynamo goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovskiy for an own goal. They knew a draw would be acceptable but they wanted to win.

“In the last part of the game the normal tendency is that if the game went on for another five or 10 minutes we would score more goals because the game was open”. “A reaction to a negative moment”.
“We allowed them several counter-attacks but they weren’t risky. Players try to win their battles, but I’m glad we’ve avoided injuries”. So it was not a drama, 1-1 was not a drama. The difference was confidence in the negative moment because the negative moment is always arriving for us in many different ways during every game.
“From the mental point of view it was important”, Mourinho said.
But City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak kept faith with the man who won two trophies in his first season in charge – offering a year’s extension to his contract at the start of the season.
