Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk has confirmed that the ministry does not plan to merge the history of Ukraine and world history into one course in the school curriculum.
“This information was made up by certain politicians and media outlets. I can say that nobody ever intended to integrate and unite the course of the history of Ukraine and that of the world history,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.
The minister noted that since 1998 the number of hours assigned for teaching the Ukrainian history at schools had not changed.
“There are no plans to change it, according to the new standards,” he said.
At the same time, Tabachnyk said that the learning hours for the Ukrainian literature wouldn’t change, as for the history of Ukraine.
“The hours intended for teaching the history of Ukraine as well as the world history won’t be reduced,” the minister said.
