The European Commission will actively facilitate Kyiv’s raising funds from the EBRD, the IFC, the World Bank to pump gas into underground gas storage facilities (UGS), Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said after gas talks in Brussels.

“The European Commission will actively assist in attracting funds from the EBRD, the IFC, the World Bank,” he said.

“We need funds in the range of $800 million to $1 billion,” the minister said.

Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak, participating in the Russian delegation, told reporters the discussion of this issue is at the initial stage. He considers the sum to be allocated to be real as the EFF program for Ukraine this year foresees $1.8 billion.
