The Dynamo Kyiv football club has withdrawn from a match against the Spartak Moscow football club (Russia) that was intended to mark the opening of Spartak Moscow’s new stadium because of the deteriorating relations between Ukraine and Russia.
The press service of the club announced this in a statement.
“The Dynamo Kyiv football club has officially declined the invitation to participate in the match against Spartak Moscow that was scheduled to take place in Moscow to mark the opening of the new Spartak stadium,” Dynamo Kyiv said in the statement.
Dynamo Kyiv said it pulled out of the relevant agreement between the two football clubs because of the current state of political relations between Ukraine and Russia, in which Dynamo Kyiv considers it inappropriate to travel to Moscow for the match.
As Ukrainian News reported, Dynamo Kyiv won in the United Tournament in summer 2013 by twice defeating Spartak Moscow.
