Dynamo Kyiv to play behind closed doors following racist attacks on Chelsea
Dynamo Kyiv have been ordered to play their next two European home matches behind closed doors for their fans’ racist behaviour and crowd trouble during their match with Chelsea last month.
The charges were brought following a prolonged attack against black supporters caught on camera by FARE, the anti-discriminatory Football Against Racism in Europe body.
UEFA also ordered the partial closure of the stadium for the first leg of the quarter-final against Fiorentina.
Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv have been hit with a three-match stadium ban – one suspended – after black supporters were abused and beaten inside their stadium.
Defender Miguel Layun has admitted Porto will have to show courage in their do-or-die Champions League clash with Chelsea after going down to Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday.
Porto went into Tuesday’s match needing only a point to advance to the last 16.
Uefa’s sanctions include Kyiv having to play their next three European matches in an empty stadium, although only two matches will be made to be served with the third suspended for three years which will be triggered in the event of further offences.
Dynamo’s first match behind closed doors will be against Maccabi Tel Aviv in December, with the second match coming in either the Champions League second round or the next phase of the Europa League, depending on where they finish in their group.
