Dynamo Kyiv have put a smile on the face of Ukrainians – Rebrov
Dynamo Kyiv manager Sergei Rebrov felt his side’s performance against Everton on Thursday night was good enough to cheer up his embattled nation.
Dynamo plundered five goals to defeat the Toffees 5-2 in the Europa League Round of 16 second leg, winning the two-legged tie 6-4 on aggregate.
The victory sent Dynamo through to the quarter-finals of Europe’s second tier competition and Rebrov suggested the showing may have put a smile on the faces of his fellow Ukrainians amidst the ongoing turmoil the country is experiencing.
“What can I say? We won a really important game and I am really happy with my boys,” said the former Ukraine and Tottenham striker.
“Everyone who was on the pitch really wanted to play, and it couldn’t be any other way because such a big crowd here today.
“Also, millions of Ukrainians were watching this game on television.
“We are really happy we made a kind of holiday for them during such a difficult period in our history.”
