Dynamo Kyiv Coach Brushes Off Winter Break Effect On Manchester City Meeting

Dynamo Kyiv manager Serhiy Rebrov has brushed off the effect the Ukrainian league’s longer winter break could have on his side’s last 16 Champions League meeting with Manchester City.

The Ukrainian side qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament by virtue of finishing second from Group G, a group that consisted of teams such as Premier League champions Chelsea, Portuguese side FC Porto and Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv.

And now they face the daunting task of stopping Manuel Pellegini’s side, who have been in prolific form throughout the group stage of the tournament.

Speaking about the additional pressure that comes with playing at the knockout stage of such a big tournament, the manager insisted that his side are not new to it.

The manager also took time to speak about the need for his team to build form and prepare for such games over the course of the period they have before the match in February.

“We’ll begin the year with Champions League matches.

“It’s not a new thing for Dynamo”, Rebrov told UEFA’s official website.

“We know how to build form and prepare for such games.

“We progressed from our group, but we still need to add some strength.”

The home leg for Dynamo Kyiv will be played behind closed doors as they face sanctions from UEFA for racist behaviour from their fans.
