IT’S the perfect place to eat when you’re looking for something simple and something sweet.

The Bull and Bush at Baulkham Hills has certainly got its bistro basics down-pat, and the homemade deserts are an absolute stand-out.

A large majority of the lunchtime crowd are regulars who flock for the bistro’s delicious classics including the fillet steak and the chicken kyiv “for the ladies’‘, according to manager Marc Dwyer.

He said the kyiv, a fillet of chicken with garlic butter, crumbed and served golden brown, is one of the menu’s most popular staples.

Essential pub grub is not the only thing the BB’s Bar and Grill is getting right.

We were treated to the weekly specials on a visit to the eatery.

Newly returned from a cooking course in Thailand, chef Anton Pinzon has had some exotic inspiration.

We had the Singapore garlic prawns, a Thai chicken salad and a snapper served with fragrant green curry and jasmine rice.

The snapper was infused with an enticing Thai flavour and not too spicy.

Dessert was a homemade apple and blackberry crumble served warm with cream.

Every bite transports you back to that short time in life when treats were prepared by mum.
