Demchyshyn promises no rotational power cutoffs
Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister, Volodymyr Demchyshyn, has said that there will be no rotational power cutoffs in Kyiv region and other regions of Ukraine.
“This year we are better prepared than last year. Our coal supplies by the beginning of the heating season are by 800,000 tones more than in the same period last year. There are a lot of facts indicating that there will be no rotational power cutoffs,” the minister noted.
According to him, Ukraine over the last weekend saved additional 70,000 tonnes of coal.
“At present we burn 90,000 tonnes of coal each day, and we have resources for additional accumulation,” Demchyshyn said.
The minister also stressed that the launch of new Rivne NPP –Kyivska substation power line and the full loading of nuclear energy would make impossible rotational power cutoffs, in particular, in Kyiv region.
