Czech FM Against Renovation of Sanctions on Russia

02 de marzo de 2015, 14:52Praga, 2 Mar (Prensa Latina)According to the Czech foreign minister, Europe needs to pay more attention to practical help to Ukraine instead of imposing sanctions on Russia for its position on the Ukranian situation.

Europe is doing almost nothing to prevent the collapse of Ukraine, which may happen if Kyiv fails to pass necessary reforms, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek said today on local TV.

“I suppose that we in Europe are doing little to prevent the collapse of Ukraine,” he said.

According to the minister, Europe needs to pay more attention to practical help to Ukraine instead of imposing sanctions on Russia and give a chance to the last Minsk Peace agreement sign in February.

“Currently, it is necessary to concentrate not on the anti-Russian sanctions, which are much talked about, but on what and how European countries should do in order to really help Ukraine,” he said.

“Hard times are coming for Kyiv, for example, in the taxation system and in its energy sector,” he added.

The minister also reminded that Ukrainian lawmakers need to do a lot to comply with the new Minsk Peace deal, he concluded.
